(HHPR) is a firm of engineers, planners, landscape architects, and surveyors who provide comprehensive, integrated services for transportation facilities; site development; utility infrastructure; water resources; stormwater facilities; parks; and residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial site development.

    What we are seeking

    A Land Surveyor who is interested in joining our Portland, OR team.Our Surveying department is seeking an individual who will work well within the team environment, respond effectively to multiple deadlines, will be flexible to field and office work demands. 

    Job Requirements

    The Project Surveyor will be responsible for managing and executing a variety of survey projects ranging from small site surveys to large transportation projects utilizing terrestrial, GPS, and emerging technology survey methods.  Survey types may include boundary, topography, ALTA, right-of-way, railroad, port facilities, construction services and laser scanning or UAV surveys. Duties will include planning survey projects, directing field crews, and preparing reports and other deliverables.  To accomplish this, the Surveyor must have a solid understanding of boundary, control, topographic surveying, and construction surveying principles.  Strong written and oral communication skills with company staff, survey crews, project team members and clients.  Ability to work independently, be flexible and adjust to changing project conditions and needs is a necessity.

    Job Description

    • Function as Project Surveyor on a variety of survey projects in collaboration with the survey staff and the project team.
    • Independently plan, conduct, and supervise field and office technicians in terrestrial and GPS surveys, office data processing, and technical analyses.
    • Produce and oversee production of project deliverables and ensure those deliverables are within established HHPR project parameters, quality control guidelines and professional standards.
    • Prepare scopes of work and cost estimates and manage project budgets.
    • Mentor junior staff.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Software Requirements

    • Proficient using AutoCAD Civil 3D.  (MicroStation and InRoads experience a bonus)
    • Proficient with general office software such as Microsoft products
    • Experience with survey related products including Trimble Business Center, Star*Net, Faro Scene, ReCap, or Pix4d is desired
    • License and Education

    Required:

    Current Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license, in the state of Washington or Oregon.  

    Preferred:

    • In addition to licensure, preferred education is a B.S. in Surveying or a related field
    • Laser scanning and UAV experience a plus
