    Technical Writer/Marketer

    Established in 2005, Statewide Land Surveying is a small business serving Oregon and Washington. We’re interested in hiring a full-time, experienced Technical Writer/Marketer for public works and private development projects. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years full-time working experience.

    Responsibilities

    You will initially be responsible for replying to project-related Request for Qualifications (RFQs), Request for Information (RFIs), and Request for Proposals (RFPs).  This duty includes:

    • Coordinating with project manager and office staff to identify and respond to new work requests
    • Reviewing subscription-based services (e.g., FedBizOpps) for new work opportunities
    • Writing, compiling, and organizing SWLS marketing content, including statement of qualification documents, project examples, project performance statements, staff resumes, Federal SF330 forms, etc.

    Other initial duties include administrative support of active project correspondence and communication.  Activities include:

    • Property access permission notification and requests mailings
    • Fielding requests and organizing correspondence and communication threads across large and complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and partners.
    • Coordinating administrative needs and project management requests between SWLS staff and project partners.

    With time and under the direction of the Project Manager, you will also be asked to actively pursue new contracts through marketing outreach. Marketing efforts may include the following activities:

    • Representing SWLS at conferences, trade shows, and client meetings
    • Managing and maintaining SWLS online and social media presence (content creation and review for SWLS website and platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
    • Investigate emerging markets and analyze industry through actor mapping, trade publication review, and active correspondence.
    • Proposal and grant writing

    With ongoing efforts you will be asked to become proficient in proofing land survey-specific technical documents and manuals for spelling, grammar, clarity, and general language usage errors.  Necessary skills and abilities include:

    • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
    • Research, write, edit, and proofread complex technical data
    • Produce high-quality documentation that meet applicable standards and are appropriate for the intended audience
    • Meticulous attention to detail and visual acuity to process reports and proof documentation
    • Ability to listen intently and collaborate in team atmosphere

     

    Qualifications

    It will be necessary to be proficient with general Microsoft Office software suite (Office, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint), Adobe Suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop), and with time and experience gain proficiency utilizing project administrative software (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Intuit Tsheets, Smartsheet, Trello, etc).
