    The City of Springfield Development and Public Works Department is looking for a positive and energetic Land Surveyor to lead  the survey program for the City of Springfield. The person must thrive in a fast paced collaborative team setting  The City of Springfield offers a dynamic environment with survey staff working as lead Land Surveyor on agency projects and reviewing private sponsored projects. Work is performed inside and outside of the office setting. The person leads the survey group setting goals and promoting innovation and team effort. A strong sense of survey law, fundamentals, professional ethics and integrity is a must.

    Position Overview:.

    This person oversees technical and para-professional survey work performed by survey and engineering technicians, and performs professional surveying duties including developing and overseeing survey standards and practices, performing surveys, boundary resolution, preparation of property description and exhibit maps, maintaining survey records, expanding horizontal and vertical control networks, developing and presenting survey training programs, and reviewing and approving surveys and land division plats for compliance with statutory requirements.

    Summary of Essential Duties:

    • Establishes survey standards and procedures for Engineering Division project teams; monitors compliance with standards and procedures.
    • Provides survey services for design and construction of City facilities
    • Reviews and approves land division plats on behalf of the City per Oregon statute; participates in the review of land use applications and collaborates City planning and engineering staff with establishing conditions for new development.
    • Conducts boundary surveys and water rights services as needed
    • Maintains pertinent maps, records, and files
    • Prepares and reviews deeds, easements, and agreements for City projects
    • Acquires rights-of-way for City projects
    • Identifies properties which are in arrears on assessments and coordinates property foreclosures
