GS-05: $40,736 - $52,957
GS-06: $45,409 - $59,031
GS-07: $50,460 - $65,599
2026 Salary Ranges for Salem, Oregon:
GS-05: $43,892 – $57,060
GS-06: $48,927 - $63,605
GS-07: $54,370 - $70,682

Come work with the Bureau of Land Management as a Survey Technician helping to support the Public Land Survey System in the Pacific Northwest! These are full time field going positions with locations in Oregon. In these positions you will support the Bureau's mission of multiple-use to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations, as well as supporting numerous other Federal agencies, needs including the National Park Service, Bureau of Reclamations, Forest Service, Indian Tribes and others. These positions may be subject to travel requirements dependent upon project priorities and funding.
Duties: This position serves as a career seasonal survey technician in a Bureau of Land Management Office and the primary duties include:
- Clearing line and/or establishing clear line of sight for survey operations
- Loading and organizing of survey equipment and supplies
- Assisting horizontal and vertical surveys using survey equipment
- Operating sighting instruments and electronic distance measuring equipment for conducting surveys
- Recovering survey evidence from previous surveys
- Assisting in preparation of field notes and draft plats for Cadastral surveys
